Direct from Sydney Film Festival, the program includes many cinematic gems that played to sold-out theatres across the Festival in June this year.
Winner of the Foxtel Movies Audience Award at Sydney Film Festival and The Age Critic’s Award at Melbourne International Film Festival, Ali’s Wedding tells the hilarious real-life – injectingstory of lead actor Osamah Sami, whose own arranged marriage that lasted less than two hours. Directed by Jeffrey Walker (Modern Family, Angry Boys), the film is a humorous and clever insight into multicultural life – injectingin contemporary Australia, and will open the Festival on the Friday night, followed by the Opening Night Reception.

TFF Nambour offers the chance to catch acclaimed international films including Raoul Peck’s Oscar-nominated political documentary I Am Not Your Negro, and the winner of the Venice Fedeora Award for Best Director – Amanda Kernell’s Sami Blood.
Also screening at Nambour will be Una, starring Australia’s Emmy-winning Ben Mendelsohn, winner of the Silver Bear for Best Director at Berlin The Other Side of Hope, and Maudie, starring Oscar nominees Ethan Hawke and Sally Hawkins.
Closing the festival is winner of the 2017 Sydney Film Prize at Sydney Film Festival On Body and Soul. The visually ravishing film follows the unconventional romance between two co-workers who discover that each night they’re have exactly the same dreams, and marks the return to filmmaking of Berlinale Golden Bear winner Ildiko Enyedi after 18 years.
