SUNSHINE COAST, QLD – Recently created to address the burgeoning need for a viable film, television and screen-based media industry, the Sunshine Coast Screen Collective (SCSC) is poised to launch its recently created website and directory. Headed by a group of industry professionals, the SCSC sees incredible potential for the region’s creatives to join forces and build a powerful coalition of screen industry talent. To that end, the SCSC is hosting an open meeting at 6:30 pm on July 4th at Sol Bar, 10/12-20 Ocean St, Maroochydore to discuss the group’s vision, mission and its implementation.
The SCSC will advocate and facilitate growth through local, regionaland international connectivity by identifying, connecting and building local talent, networking portals and resources. SCSC will discover and engage with emerging creatives through youth programs and industry mentoring. Furthermore, SCSC plans to assist in developing programs and events to promote industry related training and guidance to both screen-based media professionals and dedicated novices on the Sunshine Coast.
Youth mentoring programs are a highlighted agenda for the SCSC which will be created in concert with schools and businesses within the region and where possible outside the region to further extend these opportunities.
A web portal is currently being developed to gather and identify creative resources, personnel, equipment, locations and information around industry related events leading to the creation of an overall screen based industry resource directory for the region. Thereby creating connectivity within the region and for national and/or international interest looking to engage local professionals and services.
