Good Chats is coming back! We are excited to be able to offer our first in-person experience in many months, and provide the opportunity for our creative community to come together and connect – needed now more than ever!
Our monthly Good Chats series is now going to be held at Sub Tropic Studio in Caloundra, and we have the brilliant Seven Miles Coffee Roasters on board to make us delicious free coffees on the day!
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we can only have limited numbers at this Good Chats, so registration is essential. If you do register and can’t attend, please let us know so we can allocate your ticket to someone else.
About the speakers:
James Hornsby
James Hornsby is a multi-disciplinary artist known for a distinctive style and approach to photography and art. Merging both physical and digital processes, Hornsby delivers fusion and intersections between hands on labour and digital deformation.
Having a natural attracted to simple contrast and complex layering, Hornsby draws inspiration from an expansive yet focused group of personal and universal themes, including; involvement in youth subculture, climate crisis anxieties, photographic truth, technology reliance, dreams, the digital and real life divide and a desire for accessibility.
Hornsby’s world is colourful, dynamic, bold, winding and fast. Taking a D.I.Y approach, working across drawings and painting, Hornsby’s practice has further evolved into photography, video, commercial graphic design, sculpture, creative direction and installation.
Hornsby has exhibited in galleries, art spaces and festivals across Australia including The Brisbane Powerhouse, BIGSOUND Music Conference, The Centre for Contemporary Photography Melbourne, Brisbane Art and Design Festival, The Queensland College of Art, The Adelaide Festival Centre, The Brisbane Street Art Festival and the Queensland Museum.
Karina Sharpe
Karina Sharpe is a visual crusader for a better world, and one of our artists-in-residence at Sub Tropic Studio. An image producer intent on using her gifts to support meaningful endeavours & purposeful brands, Karina specialises in producing custom designed visual assets to help bring high visibility to her client’s ventures & help propel them into the mainstream. With a blend of art-direction, photography and precision craft, Karina helps brands capture a viewer’s attention while delivering the full product story, ensuring audiences are enamoured and informed enough to become customers.
Karina’s biggest thrill comes from the opportunity to craft a point of difference for a purposeful brand or positive endeavour, to help them make a compellingly mark alongside big-commerce. Her aim is to make the better, happier, healthier options the more visible & effortless choice, easing the status quo towards positive impact.
