Good Chats #10

Our monthly Good Chats series is held at Sub Tropic Studio in Caloundra, and we have the brilliant Seven Miles Coffee Roasters on board to make us delicious free coffees on the day!

About the Speakers:

Evelyn Marina
Evelyn is a painter, ink artist and designer based on the Sunshine Coast. She is guided by her intuition and the wondrous ever-present magic of the ocean. She paints textured abstract works with acrylic. And to punctuate the flow of paint, she draws ink pieces influenced by images real or imagined—dreams, nature and adventures meaningful to her.

Evelyn’s design work has spanned editorial and fashion labels. Most recently, she worked with Finders Keepers to develop their new visual branding, as well as textiles for their clothing. She’s also designed for magazines, including Scoop, Spoke and The Side Project Mag.

Alison Mooney
Alison’s practice explores themes of colour, movement and curiosity, with influences drawn from attitudes of graffiti, activism and sugar pop. Alison’s ongoing series is an invitation for interaction through abstraction. Each studio piece can have as many as 30 layers before resolution. One decision leads to the next and so on … a slow unfolding.

Her current studio works explore energy, vibrations and the relationship to colour for both. Each piece designed to inspire fresh energy and movement to a space. Alison has been showing her work publicly since 2009.

She has works held in private collections in Japan, NZ, US, the UK, Canada, Austria and throughout Australia; and in the public collection of the Sunshine Coast Council.
