On the 1st of August, Arts Minister, Leeanne Enoch MP announced the Regional Arts Services Network (RASN) has now been established and is set to roll out across the State to support local arts priorities.
The network, which comprises eight identified regional areas, was developed to prioritise local needs and build networking and collaboration across regions and between artists and companies.
In April, the Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance formed a new company (Creative Arts Alliance Ltd) and following an extensive two-stage EOI has been awarded the contract for SEQ-North. This involves delivering regional arts services across 6 LGA’s including Redlands, Moreton Bay, Somerset, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Gympie councils.
Our new company – referred to as the ‘Creative Alliance’ – has begun discussions with the State Co-Ordination office and is meeting with the 6 local governments and a number of partner arts companies. We are in the process of establishing our work program and will start soon start staff procurement to assist in the roll out! There will be more to announce soon.
The formation of a new company happens in the 10th year of operation of the Sunshine Coast Creative Alliance Inc and is a sign of our successful and growing influence. Establishing the new company was a deliberate ‘stretch goal’ for SCCA Board and while you won’t notice any obvious changes on the ground, this bold move will help us ‘step up’ locally to deliver better services and support for local artists in our region. It also helps connect us to neighbouring regions and will allow us to build an emerging export network for local artists and companies!
Let the exciting times roll! And if you want to get involved, become a member and get in contact!
